Development

Concept development, prototyping, quality assurance, verification, test models, design for manufacturability - we know how to turn academic research into commercial products.

Competence Centers

A network to create efficient collaboration between academia and industry, nourish innovation and efficiently commercialize research results.

Smallscale production

Acreo offers small scale production for both mature companies and start-ups. We have production facilities and competence to help you get started and to evaluate new products.

Lab resources and Testbeds

Acreo is certified according to the quality system ISO 9001:2008 which means that our lab activities comply with the highest standards and yield consistent results. Our Testbeds allow us to work with real life test environments.

Technology Areas

Broadband Technology

Our activities span core networks through access networks to home networks. With increased bandwidth and new Internet services vast changes of our society is yet to come. We address network design, optical transmission and IP protocols, we measure how networks are used and how network performance influence quality of experience of services such as video and IPTV. We perform technical research and development; we drive standardization and policy issues as well as analyze business models.

Fiber Optics

We develop specialty optical fiber, fiber optic components and sensors, and entire industrial system solutions based on fiber optics. Fiber optics can be used to provide optical functions with unique performance. As a sensor, the fiber withstands harsh operating conditions, and can provide high precision, non-contact, intrinsically safe measurements in robust systems. At Acreo, we have the expertise and resources to develop these sensor solutions and components.

Nanoelectronics

We develop electronic devices and microsystems with new functionality. With integration and miniaturisation we can get high performance at reduced cost. New properties are achieved with advanced circuit design, new semiconductor materials and nanotechnology fabrication processes. We focus on imaging detectors for X-ray, UV, IR, and THz, power electronics and sensors for harsh environment, high-speed communication transceivers, and bioanalysis integration with microfluidics.

Printed Electronics

Our competence spans from novel materials to integrated systems and manufacturing. We have established a Platform of Printed Electronics components consisting of displays, transistors, diodes, and energy sources; which can be integrated into products creating innovative functionality. Acreo is primarily focusing on Packaging, Internet of Things and Health Care. In our printing facility we develop prototypes and have small scale production of components and integrated systems.

Acreo is part of Swedish ICT together with IMEGO, Interactive Institute, Santa Anna, SICS and Viktoria Institute.
