SVU: Early warning system evaluation of interference based flow cytometry

The project aims to evaluate a new measurement technology, a new way to measure flow cytometry based on the interference of light modulation which enables detection of single microorganisms and analysis of larger sample volumes. The goal is an early warning system for rapid detection of fecal impact on raw water in order to prevent water-borne infection. Within the project the technology will be compared to the strengths and weaknesses of established enzymatic technologies.

By extension, this measurement technology could potentially be adapted also to the specific detection of other microorganisms (cryptosporidium) and viruses.

In this project drinking water producers with extensive knowledge of the industry and scientists and engineers with wide measurement technology expertise work together.
