Phypode - monitoring divers

The EU-FP7 Marie Curie ITN Phypode focuses on research in diving physiology in particular decompression research. Acreo's part in this project includes sensor development and measurement data processing.

Physiological parameters that are monitored underwater on divers are blood pressure, ECG and Heart Rate Variability,  respiratory parameters and cognitive functions. The measurement data are stored on an especially developed diving computer with an innovative touchscreen, which can even be used underwater.

The second aim of Marie Curie projects is education of young researchers (Early Stage Researchers). This is usually done within the framework of a PhD thesis. The Phypode partners have recruited in total 14 ESR's from multidisciplinary fields - comprising life sciences as well as engineering disciplines.
