European ‘Women in Space Technology’ Initiative

European ‘‘Women in Space Technology’’ initiative was Launched in a special event ‘‘Women’s leadership in science and technology’’ during 2017 Europe conference on optical communication (ECOC_2017). It is a group to involve women researchers, engineers, managers, brokers and students from both industry and academia in the field of space technology. This will be mainly driven by voluntary effort with passion and enthusiasm of its members, all support from related affiliations such as companies, institutes, universities, organizations are welcome and highly appreciated.

Vision:
 To provide a platform for networking, conversation and collaborations in academia and industry, and increase visibility of women in the space technology community
 To promote personal and professional growth and development for women in the field
 To encourage and retain women in the field, especially inspire young female professionals and PhD students to join space related areas
 To link with associated women initiatives, such as IEEE ‘‘Women in Photonics’’ for coordinating joint activities to enhance its impact worldwide
Activities:
 To arrange yearly event for sharing experience in a broad spectrum ranging from space technology to career development through scientific and technology (S&T) conferences or workshops in EU region
 Informing and discussing EU calls between members to strive getting joint projects
 To coordinate visits or Lab tours between members, especially for the school students or university students with related majors
 Public space technology lectures to local schools, universities and societies
 Information update by website and newsletters
