Alternative methode for fracture detection

By far the most common method to detect fractures is based on X-ray. The technology is in many ways good, but requires relatively large and expensive equipment, which means that the patient must be moved to the equipment rather than the opposite.

On behalf of an orthopedic surgeon, Acreo previously performed a feasibility study where technical solutions for an idea of alternative methods for fracture detection would be developed.
From this study revealed a technique that is considered to be able to detect a fracture in an alternative way and where the equipment can be made portable to the relatively low price. In recent laboratory experiments the fundamental parts of concept was verified, which motivated a continuation of the development and testing of the concept.

In the current, third phase, additional lab tests will be performed on test bones and also on volunteers.
