Global event: Introduce a girl to the exciting world of Photonics

This evening we will show you - young women - how photonics impacts the world. We also hope to encourage you to choose Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for your future career. Welcome!

The IEEE international event on 'Introduce a Girl to Photonics' is a global event coordinated by IEEE Photonics Society to support Women in Photonics initiative and IEEE Day 2015 on Oct. 6. The local event in Stockholm is hosted by Acreo Swedish ICT.

The program in short:

We will start with a 15 minutes public-science talk on Nature Inspired Photonics, such as; why is the butterfly so beautiful? Why has rainbow so rich colors? After the introduction we will discuss in a small group to share your and the other participants discovery and experience on light and photons, e.g., a light decorated fashion show or a colorful photo or a 3D movie. You will also have opportunity to see your images in dark by a IR-camera, and to play/explore other photonic elements/components/systems provided by ADOPT center, KTH.

During the event smörgåstårta will be served with soft-drinks, free of charge.

We welcome all primary-, middle- and high-school girls (and accompany people)

Registrer below before Sept. 20, 2015.

Please pay attention, the total number of participants is 75, and the application link will be closed as reaching the maximum number.
