FMOF - Acreo’s Partner Association
hans@malmqvistab.se
During 2004 FMOF has taken active part in the planning and reorganisation of the research institutes sector initiated by IRECO. The purpose of this initiative is to create a stronger institute sector by merging the current institutes into four main areas.
FMOF has proposed a new ICT-institute including HW as well as SW and systems related activities based on Acreo and SITI, including also SICS, Viktoria Institute and Santa Anna IT Research Institute. A letter of intent has been signed between the owners FMOF, IRECO and the SITI Association to carry through and to finalise this merge by summer 2005.
We believe the new IKT-institute will have the potential to be a strong platform for industry oriented applied research and future engagement in large national and European research programmes.
During 2004 FMOF has taken initiative to projects based on collaboration between Acreo, SP and FOI. Three areas have been identified for joint research programmes; robust electronics, microwave, and (secure) network technology. As a first example of this collaboration Acreo, SP and FOI will jointly set-up a stand and arrange miniseminars at the Electronics/EP trade fair in Stockholm, 1-3 February 2005.
