COIN - Centre for Organic INformatics
COIN - Centre for Organic INformatics
A new centre dedicated to activity in organic and polymer electronics has been established in Norrköping, Sweden. It was inaugurated while the Nobel Prize Laureates Alan J Heeger, Alan G MacDiarmid and Hideki Shirakawa visited Norrköping in December 2000, 14th.
COIN was established by ACREO and Linköping University and is financially supported by Norrköping municipality and Sydkraft. The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and Chalmers University in Gothenburg are also member Univeristies in COIN.
The outstanding research activity in organic and polymer electronics in the Linköping-Norrköping area is now gathered and supported by COIN. Also, the task for the centre is to promote spinning out companies from the area in the field of organic and polymer electronics. COIN is taking part in supporting education at the undergraduate and the graduate level at the universities. Application areas of interest of organic electronics for COIN are the information-processing, -displaying and –storing technologies.
Following groups take part in COIN:
Organic Electronics, ITN-LiU, Prof. M. Berggren
Organic Physics, ITN-LiU, Ass. Prof. M.Fahlman
Biomolecular and Organic Electronics, IFM-LiU, Prof. O. Inganäs
Surface Physics and Chemistry, IFM-LiU, Prof. W. Salaneck
