| MCVD preform manufacture | R&D and production of specialty optical fibers and preforms
Acreo FiberLab is equipped with the latest instrumentation for development, manufacture and characterization of high quality optical fibers, preforms and preform cores, and are staffed with highly skilled researchers and operators.
The facility include
- 1900 m2, 500m2 clean room
- Nextrom OFC-12 MCVD system
- Two 12 meter drawing towers, fiber glass diameters from 60 to 1500 microns. The second drawing tower was designed and built by Acreo in 2004 for maximum flexibility and efficient production of specialty fibers.
- Polyimide, acrylate, silicone coatings. Nylon or Tefzel jacketing are options.
- Extensive glass working capabilities
- Fully equipped chemistry lab, incl liquid doping of preforms
- Gas phase doping cabinet
- Instrumentation (preform refractive index profiler, SEM/EDS, FT-IR, instrumentation for fiber spectral attenuation and cut-off measurements, dispersion analyzer, OTDR, fiber proof tester, fiber refractive index profiler)
