Fiber Sensors

Optical fiber sensors have a number of unique properties. They are insensitive to electromagnetic noise, they can withstand tough environments (temperatures, chemicals), they can be embedded in different materials/structures, the measurement point passive (no current), they are potentially cheap, and they enable distributed sensing.

Acreo works with industry and R&D partners in the development of fiber optic sensors for a number of applications. One example is

High temperature FBGs
Acreo has developed a technology for chemical composition gratings for high temperatures.
