Printed pyro-and piezo-electric sensor systems

The 3PLAST project has resulted in all-printed systems based on pyro- and piezo-electric sensors, where temperature or pressure fluctuations are sensed by the respective sensor.

An all-printed touchless keypad

Sensor elements, electrochemical transistors and electrochromic pixels have been printed and integrated onto the same plastic substrate, and the result is a demonstrator of an all-printed human machine interface (HMI) sensor system. The touchless keypad shown in the figure is one application example for such sensor systems.

Other examples of envisioned applications of the integrated large area polymer sensor technology are smart skins, human machine interfaces, security systems (e.g. pedestrian protection in vehicles) and self-controlled machine monitoring.
